Thalapathy Vijay Visits Mookambika Temple In Karnataka
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Thalapathy Vijay, visited the Mookambika Temple, one of the most sacred shrines in Karnataka. The temple is located in the Udupi district. He offered prayers to Goddess Mookambika during his visit on Friday, June 12, 2026.
Vijay first landed at Mangaluru International Airport after arriving from New Delhi. As per the Free Press Journal, before entering the temple, he stayed at the temple guest house and changed into traditional attire. He then entered the shrine and took part in the rituals. Temple authorities revealed that he participated in the special Maha Pooje and also witnessed the Mangalarati. He spent around 20 to 30 minutes inside the temple premises.
What Did He Offered In Temple?
During the visit, Vijay offered a 1.6-kilogram silver sword to Goddess Mookambika. Free Press Journal reported that he also presented a traditional silk saree and flowers. Temple officials received the silver sword in a ceremonial way. After completing the prayers, he received the temple prasad.
The Mookambika Temple in Kollur is one of South India’s most important pilgrimage places. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Mookambika, who is worshipped as a form of Shakti. Devotees from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other states visit the shrine throughout the year. The temple is also associated with Adi Shankaracharya, who is believed to have installed the idol there after meditating in the nearby Kudajadri hills.
