On October 10, Friday, the Delhi government introduced the first-of-its-kind ‘Clean-Air Innovation Challenge’. The idea behind this is to find affordable technologies that can reduce harmful particulate matter, including PM2.5 and PM10, in Delhi. According to NDTV, the initiative aims to gather innovative ideas that can help address Delhi’s growing pollution problem, particularly from major sources such as roads, vehicles, and construction sites.

This challenge will be led by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). They are looking for solutions that actually work in Delhi and don’t cost too much. These ideas can be anything like special road coatings that trap dust or devices to capture smoke from vehicles. The plan is simple: if the solution can reduce harmful particles in the air, is easy to set up, and is affordable, Delhi is ready to use it.

Price Money For Each Stage

As per NDTV report, participants will have to go through a three-stage process. In the first stage, the DPCC will screen submissions, and then the shortlisted ideas will undergo expert field or lab trials. Finally, national labs, such as the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), will validate the most promising technologies. The good news is that participants whose solutions pass the second stage will receive Rs 5 lakh, while fully validated technologies could win up to ₹50 lakh and a chance for citywide adoption.

If you’re wondering who can participate, here’s the answer: individuals, startups, research institutes, IITs, and companies across India can take part. Those interested can submit their solutions online at www.dpcc.delhigovt.nic.in until October 31, 2025.

By introducing this innovative challenge, Delhi is making sure it can do everything possible to help people breathe fresh air.
