There’s no shortage of travel lovers in the world who are always on the lookout for new places, especially during long weekends and festivals. Today, these travellers are going beyond the usual spots and exploring newer destinations across India and Asia. Based on real booking growth, Agoda’s latest New Horizons ranking highlights destinations where travel interest is rising the most. Scroll down to find out!

How Foreigners Are Travelling In India

According to digital travel platform Agoda, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala has emerged as the fastest-growing destination for international travellers to India. The ranking looks at accommodation booking data from the past two years to track destinations across Asia that have seen the biggest rise in traveller interest.

Among inbound destinations, Thiruvananthapuram saw the highest growth in international travel interest. The city climbed 11 spots, rising from 33rd in 2024 to 22nd in 2025, making it the top emerging destination for foreign travellers in India. 

The Kerala capital wins hearts with its peaceful beaches, rich cultural heritage, and easy access to backwaters and hill stations. Travellers also head here for wellness retreats, heritage sites, and slow, laid-back escapes. And honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and soak it all in.

Top Destination For Indian Travellers

On the domestic travel front, Indore has emerged as India’s top trending destination. The city jumped seven spots, moving from 35th in 2024 to 28th in 2025. This rise shows how Indian travellers are increasingly exploring new and upcoming urban cities. This amazing Indian city is known for its cleanliness, making it a place many are excited to visit. Also, how can we forget the iconic Indori Poha? It’s a must-try in the city!

On the international travel front, Almaty in Kazakhstan stood out as a rising favourite among Indian travellers. The city climbed 12 places, moving from 47th in 2024 to 35th in 2025. This sharp rise shows a growing curiosity among Indians to explore Central Asia. This place made travellers awestruck with its beautiful landscapes, winter adventures, and outdoor activities.

Across Asia, Sapa in Vietnam emerged as the top destination for international travellers. The scenic mountain town claimed the number one spot, followed by Okayama in Japan, Bandung in Indonesia, Matsuyama in Japan, and Takamatsu in Japan. Together, these cities make up the top five fastest-growing destinations in Asia.
