An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Krabi, Thailand, was delayed by over three hours on Thursday, triggering chaos onboard. Frustrated passengers allegedly turned aggressive, with some becoming unruly, forcing authorities to deboard them and hand them over to security agencies. Here’s what happened.
Chaos Erupts On IndiGo Mumbai Krabi Flight
A now-viral video, shared by @shukla_tarun on X, shows chaos on a Mumbai to Thailand. According to NDTV, passengers on IndiGo flight 6E 1085, flying from Mumbai to Thailand’s Krabi, were scheduled to fly out at 4:05 AM on Thursday. The flight was delayed by nearly three hours because the pilot refused to fly the plane after duty hours.
According to the X post, the pilot had informed the airline that he was breaching his duty hours. However, passengers had already boarded the aircraft and were made to remain seated for nearly three hours. As frustration mounted, chaos erupted, with several passengers turning aggressive. In videos circulating online, passengers can be seen shouting at flight attendants, demanding answers and questioning what would happen to their travel plans.
After hours of disruption, the IndiGo flight finally departed from Mumbai and reached Krabi at around 1 PM, instead of the scheduled 10 AM arrival.
Airline Issues Statement
Addressing the issue on its Mumbai to Krabi flight on Thursday, Indigo issued a statement and said that the delay was due to a “combination of reasons, including late arrival of incoming aircraft, air traffic congestion, and crew exceeding their duty time limitations.”
In the statement, they also revealed that two passengers were deboarded and handed to the security due to unruly behaviour. “Two of the customers onboard behaved inappropriately during the wait time and were declared unruly. As per protocol, they were deboarded and handed over to the security agencies, resulting in further delays.”
The airline, reportedly, made sure to keep the passengers safe by offering meals and refreshments multiple times to “ease the wait time”.
