IndiGo Launches New ‘Lite’ Fare For Cabin Bag-Only Travellers
IndiGo has unveiled ‘IndiGo Lite‘, a new basic Economy Class fare that offers travellers a lower-priced regular ticket if they are travelling with only cabin baggage. The airline stated that the new fare will be offered exclusively through its website, mobile app, and contact centre from July 1 for travel beginning on July 15, 2026.
The fare will be provided on all direct local and international non-stop fares, which will include one-way, round-trip, and multi-city reservations for both adults and children.
Travellers booking the Lite fare will get an auto-assigned seat at no extra cost and can carry one cabin bag weighing up to 7 kg.

IndiGo Lite Has Optional Add-Ons Available
In addition to it, the travellers can modify their journey by buying extra services such as check-in baggage, preferred seats, meals, or priority-based services like Fast Forward. These add-ons can be bought up to one hour before departure through IndiGo’s website or at the airport.
Despite being a cheaper fare, travellers will continue to earn and redeem IndiGo BluChip loyalty points, making sure they remain eligible for the airline’s rewards scheme.
Speaking about the launch, Aloke Singh, Chief Strategy Officer of IndiGo, stated that the airline is constantly modifying its products to meet the evolving needs of different types of travellers. He explained that IndiGo Lite is targeted at passengers who travel light and prefer paying only for the services they actually use, while making air travel more accessible and affordable.
