Travel On Samruddhi Mahamarg To Get Tastier! 14 More Food Plazas To Come Up In 3 Months

Samruddhi Mahamarg

The Samruddhi Mahamarg, also known as the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, is a 701-km high-speed expressway. It significantly reduces travel time between the two cities. However, there is an important update now. The MSRDC is set to commission 14 more food plazas along the expressway over the next three months. Here’s why.

More Food Plazas On Samruddhi Mahamarg

According to a report by Free Press Journal, commuters travelling on the Samruddhi Mahamarg (Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway) have been facing major inconveniences. The main reasons include the lack of toilets, petrol pumps, and water facilities since the expressway became operational. Reportedly, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) plans to commission a total of 22 food plazas within the next few months.

Eight of these 22 food plazas are already operational. The remaining 14 will be commissioned in the coming three months. As per a report by The Indian Express, these food plazas, or food courts, will be housed in containers at 11 strategic locations along the expressway. This system is being implemented by MSRDC in collaboration with selected contractors. These temporary setups will offer essential amenities until permanent facilities are completed.

Food Plazas To Offer Temporary Relief

Reportedly, contractors have been given 18 months to develop fully functional wayside amenities for commuters on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Until then, these container-based food courts will be set up within three months. Operations are expected to begin in April. These food courts will provide temporary relief to commuters travelling long distances on the expressway.

According to Mumbai Live, eight functional food plazas have already started operations on both sides at Vargadi and Maral. One-way food plazas are also operational at Mandwa, Waifal, Manakpur, and Amne. Once all 22 food plazas become operational, travelling on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is expected to become much easier, and complaints related to food, washrooms, and more might also drop.
