Uzbekistan, a Central Asian destination known for its ancient Silk Road cities, grand Islamic architecture and colourful bazaars, has made travel easier for certain Indian passport holders. Indian citizens who meet specific eligibility criteria can now stay in Uzbekistan for up to 30 days without obtaining a Uzbekistan visa. So, who qualifies for this visa-free entry? Who Can Enter Uzbekistan Visa-Free?
According to a travel update issued by the Embassy of India in Tashkent, Indian citizens holding valid multiple-entry Business or Tourist visas issued by select countries can enter Uzbekistan without applying for a separate Uzbek visa. The eligible visas must be issued by:
- Australia
- Canada
- Japan
- New Zealand
- Republic of Korea
- Schengen Agreement member states
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
Travellers must also carry a confirmed return or onward air ticket to their country of origin or another destination. Indian citizens who do not meet these conditions will still need to apply for the appropriate Uzbekistan visa under the country’s existing visa rules.

Uzbekistan Announces 30-Day Visa-Free Rule For Indians
According to reports by NDTV, the clarification follows an announcement by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who recently announced plans for a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens. The initiative is aimed at encouraging tourism, business exchanges and stronger people-to-people connections between India and Uzbekistan.
The announcement was made during delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day state visit to Uzbekistan. Mirziyoyev highlighted the growing economic and travel links between the two countries, noting that bilateral trade crossed USD 1 billion for the first time last year. He also pointed to the growth in business partnerships and air connectivity, saying the number of joint ventures between India and Uzbekistan has increased sevenfold in recent years. The two countries currently have 14 direct flights every week, further supporting travel between them.
