V-Day 2026: Short Trips Steal Spotlight With 66% Flight Surge & 68% Rise In Hotel Bookings

This Valentine’s Day, couples are going beyond the usual romantic dinners. Many are now choosing to travel together and create lasting memories. To explore this trend, both Pickyourtrail and Scapia shared their insights. Here’s a look at where and how travellers are planning to celebrate. Scroll down to know more!

Increase In Booking During Valentine’s Day Weekend

Flights for Valentine’s weekend on Scapia have soared by 66%, and hotel bookings are up 68%. Even hotel searches have jumped 44%, showing that many couples are planning last-minute escapes. Clearly, short trips are stealing the spotlight as couples look to make the celebration more memorable than a typical night at home.

In India, couples are heading to Goa, Kochi, Delhi, and Mumbai for everything from beach sunsets to buzzing city vibes and rich cultural experiences. Abroad, lovebirds are splurging on luxury stays in Dubai, Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Hanoi), and Thailand (Krabi and Pattaya). These spots are perfect for those looking for a mix of indulgence, excitement, and unforgettable memories. This proves that couples no longer need long holidays to celebrate.

Mix Of Romance And Adventure Travel

Valentine’s travel is getting more premium than ever! Budgets for international trips in 2026 have grown 20–33% compared to 2025, showing couples are ready to splurge on unique experiences. From upgrading hotels to booking curated activities, exclusivity is the new trend.

Couples now want a mix of romance and adventure—think island hopping, wildlife encounters, desert safaris, and waterfront dinners, including dhow cruises. Adventure-led couples spend around ₹2.5 lakh per trip, while those going for boutique luxury enjoy stays costing ₹20,000–₹40,000 per night.

Personalisation is a must, not a bonus. About 60–70% of couples ask for custom itineraries, and 45% go for private experiences like beach dinners, sunset cruises, floating breakfasts, and exclusive tours. Millennials and Gen Z are leading the way, choosing adventure-packed trips in Southeast Asia like Thailand and Bali, while established couples still prefer indulgent escapes in the Maldives.
