Train travel has always been about more than just getting from one place to another. It’s about soaking in the changing landscapes outside the window, meeting fellow passengers onboard, and indulging in delicious station-side snacks along the way. But if you’re travelling on Central Railway soon, be prepared to shell out more for favourites like vada pav and samosa, as railway authorities have revised the à la carte tariff across the network. Read on to know more.
Vada Pav To Cost ₹20 At Central Railway Stations
According to NDTV Profit, food and beverage items sold at Central Railway station stalls across the network are set to become more expensive from June 1, 2026. The price hike is likely to significantly impact commuters, given the steep increase in rates. For instance, the humble vada pav, which previously cost ₹13, will now cost ₹20, marking an almost 54% increase.
The revised prices were approved by the competent authority and announced through an official circular issued on May 25, 2026, by the Office of the Chief Commercial Manager (Claims & Catering) at CSMT Mumbai. The circular was sent to Senior Divisional Commercial Managers across key Central Railway divisions, including Bhusaval, Bhopal, Solapur, Nagpur and Pune.
The price revision will also affect several other popular station snacks. While samosas, currently priced at ₹12, will now cost ₹20, ragda pav and usal pav combos will see their prices rise from ₹20 to ₹25. Beverage rates, including orange, mosambi (sweet lime) and apple juice, have also been revised, though soda prices will remain unchanged for now. Along with the price hike, railway authorities are also planning to revise the quantity of certain food items.
