Flying can be convenient to reach your destination in less time; however, amid this, our comfort takes a backseat. Crowded seats, limited legroom, and fellow passengers encroaching on your space can make long flights exhausting. What if we tell you that you can travel with plenty of personal space in economy class as well? Air India now offers a way to do just that. Keep reading for more details.

You Can Now Book An Entire Seat Row On Air India

A recent Instagram video by digital creator Abhinav Chand (@faadtechnician) shows a neat trick to book an entire row on Air India flights for maximum comfort. Chand filmed his journey inside Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport while travelling to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. He explained how economy passengers can use Air India’s seat-blocking feature during web check-in, as long as the flight isn’t fully booked.

Air India now offers two options for extra space in economy. The first, “Neighbour-Free Seat” (which costs ₹4,654), blocks the seat next to you. The second, “Block Entire Row” (which costs ₹7,446), lets you control all seats in a row. You can stretch out, lie down, or even use a small camping mat for maximum comfort–just like Abhinav.

Here’s How To Do It

To use this feature, the digital creator advises passengers not to wait until the day of check-in. The option is available in advance on Air India’s official website. All you need to do is visit the “manage booking” section, enter your PNR and last name, and select your preferred seat. This allows travellers to secure a row or a neighbour-free seat ahead of time. He also advises avoiding emergency exit rows, as the booking process for these seats can be complicated.

This seat-blocking option is currently available only on international flights. Its availability for domestic flights is still uncertain, according to Chand. Air India’s seat-blocking feature is a simple yet effective way to make flying more comfortable, especially for long-haul international journeys.
