Keralam has officially rolled out its first government-backed “workation” initiative called SHOLA in forest workplaces. Instead of sitting in a boring city office or a room, people would now get the chance to pack their bags and laptops and travel to a beautiful holiday spot to earn their bread and butter. Here’s everything you need to know about this initiative if “work from forest” is something you would love to explore!
Keralam Launches Workation Initiative In Forests
A work-from-home employee can understand how sometimes working from your room and looking at the same surroundings can get so boring. Sometimes, we all need a change of scene and go out in search of a work-friendly cafe. But what if we tell you that Keralam is taking the whole game to another level by offering employees the chance to work from a forest? Yes, you read that right.
According to ThePrint, Keralam is opening up its forest destinations to travellers with some amazing workation facilities. There will be premium pod stays, branded tea, coffee and even sandalwood products in these facilities to promote sustainable ecotourism. The initiative, called ‘SHOLA’, which stands for Seek-Hike-Observe-Lodge-Absorb, was inaugurated recently with workation facilities at Gavi and Suryanelli.

Facilities Offer Wi-Fi, Cafeteria And More
According to ThePrint, these facilities will allow visitors to stay amid lush greenery and nature while they continue working on their laptops. According to Mathrubhumi English, there are high-speed Wi-Fi and cafeteria facilities at the locations. This will allow them to take a break and even go for a trek through the forest.
A three-day workation package in Keralam, including accommodation, food and trekking, costs ₹14,000. A room can accommodate two people, and four rooms have been prepared in the first phase.
So, if you are bored of working from home, shell out some money and book this package in Gavi, a forested area within the Periyar Tiger Reserve, and in Suryanelli, a highland village located around 25 km from Munnar.
