Ordering food online has become the new normal. Who wants to visit a restaurant or bakery to get their order packed when they can enjoy their favourite food in the comfort of their home? Food delivery has made it so much easier! Now, Flipkart is entering this market with its ‘Eat-In by Minutes’, and we can’t wait to share the deets with you.

When Is Flipkart Launching ‘Eat-In By Minutes’?

Flipkart is all set to compete with Zomato and Swiggy. How? One of the biggest online stores is now set to launch Eat-In by Minutes by the end of October 2026. As per NDTV report, the service is currently in the testing phase at its headquarters in Bengaluru. Only employees have access to the trials for now. The company will expand the service to five to six cities by the end of this year.

According to TechCrunch, Flipkart will feature restaurants that have joined the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Some restaurants have also signed up directly with Flipkart. Reports also suggest that delivery riders in Bengaluru were seen wearing T-shirts with the company’s logo.

How Will This Service Work?

Flipkart is planning to use its logistics arm, Ekart, to deliver food through a separate team of riders. This means riders will handle food orders separately from those delivered through Flipkart Minutes. How is this new service different from Zomato and Swiggy? NDTV reported that according to Daryani, Flipkart has set a base commission of around 10%, while Zomato and Swiggy charge restaurants around 20% to 25%.

Apart from these two companies, Flipkart will also have to compete with Rapido’s Ownly, which follows a zero-commission model, and Swiggy’s Toing. Flipkart isn’t the first big company to try its luck in India’s food delivery market. Amazon launched its food-ordering service in Bengaluru in 2020 but shut it down two years later. Google’s Areo app also failed to gain traction. Uber, meanwhile, exited the market in 2020 by selling its Uber Eats business in India to Zomato.
