Which Delhi Metro Stations Will Remain Closed?
The Congress party has planned a march towards the Supreme Court and is expected to draw a huge crowd. According to The Indian Express, the aim of this protest is the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
Due to the planned march, Delhi Metro officials have decided to restrict entry and exit at six metro stations. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced this decision early Monday morning.
The metro stations to remain closed are
- Janpath, Mandi House
- Barakhamba Road
- Central Secretariat
- Rajiv Chowk
- Patel Chowk
If you’re travelling from these stations between 6 AM and 4 PM, you might have to look for another option. However, you can still use the interchange facilities at these stations.

Supreme Court Instructs Authorities To Ensure Normal Metro Services
The decision to restrict entry and exit at six Delhi Metro stations comes after the Supreme Court instructed authorities to ensure that metro travel is not disrupted. As per The Indian Express report, the court directed officials to keep metro and train services running normally and ensure that internet services are not affected.
On Sunday, two Supreme Court judges, Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, held a special hearing on petitions against the restrictions imposed on Saturday. The petitions claimed that these restrictions went against the court’s earlier directions issued on Friday. The judges found that there could be a possible case of contempt of court and asked the Centre, Delhi Police and DMRC to explain their actions and submit reports.
