Taking to his social media handle, an X user, Infrastory (@marinebharat) complains about Mumbai Metro Line 3 operating hours. The passenger pointed out that in a fast-moving city like Mumbai, it is disappointing that the last train runs at 10:45 PM. Many people depend on public transport late at night, especially after work, events, or travel.
The passenger also highlighted that Metro Line 3 connects to the airport, which operates round the clock. They said the metro should ideally run 24×7 to support travellers. The commuter suggested that authorities could run late-night services with higher fares between 12 am and 6 am to make it more practical.

Reason Behind The Early Last Train
Mumbai Metro Line 3’s last train leaves at 10:45 pm for maintenance purposes. This fully underground 33.5 km corridor requires cleaning, safety inspections, and infrastructure checks to ensure smooth and safe operations. The post raising concerns over the timings has quickly gone viral all over the internet, and netizens are divided into two. While some agree with him, others oppose him.
One user wrote, “Of course. Everyone points out this flaw. It is impractical to have the last metro at 10.45. I know they must have technical reasons for that. I hope they solve those issues ASAP. People travel till 12.30 AM on a regular basis here, so if the local runs the metro also must.”
Another user commented, “But this is important to close metro service after 11 pm because the metro work whole day from morning to late night. There is a cooling period, and a service check for proper and efficient functioning of metros.”
One user also suggested new operating hours: “It should run till 1 am and start at 5 am.”
