Why Has Ranthambore National Park Fined 101 Safari Vehicles & Barred 15 From Entry?

Ranthambore National Park is one of the best places for jungle safaris in India. But recently, the authorities of the tiger reserve have penalised 101 vehicles for flouting rules, citing risks to tourist safety and wildlife protection. Here’s why these safari vehicles were fined and what it means for them.

101 Safari Vehicles Fined In Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park is a dream destination for many people who absolutely love wildlife. It is one of the best destinations in India to spot Royal Bengal tigers, sloth bears, leopards, striped hyenas, sambar deer, and over 300 species of birds. The park is located near Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan and sees a lot of tourists in safari vehicles during its operating hours. But according to The Times of India, the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve authorities have now penalised 101 safari vehicles for overspeeding.

The authorities have cited risks to tourist safety and wildlife protection as reasons behind this strict action. Apart from that, 15 safari vehicles were barred from operating with inactive GPS systems. The speeding violations were reportedly detected through GPS monitoring between March 12 and April 7. These orders were issued by the Deputy Conservator of Forests (Tourism).

Strict Action Warned By Authorities

An official shared with the Times of India that the safari vehicles were found exceeding the prescribed speed limit of 40 kmph during park rounds. They have now been asked not to enter the reserve until further notice by the authorities. 15 vehicles were reportedly operating with inactive GPS systems during park visits, which compromises tourist safety.

These vehicles will not enter Ranthambore National Park until their GPS systems are fully restored and verified. The department has now warned the vehicle owners and drivers to follow the rules. Repeated violations could lead to denial of entry in future, blacklisting, and even cancellation of vehicle registration. We think that the authorities have taken the right decision. Wildlife safaris are no joke. Yes, it is fun, but keeping the safety of both tourists and animals should always be the first priority.
