Pallavi Joshi And Vivek Agnihotri On Their Working Partnership
Indian director Vivek Agnihotri and his wife Pallavi Joshi share a truly quirky relationship. We got to see this when the Curly Tales team stepped inside their beautifully designed Mumbai home. During our Sunday brunch, the couple revealed many personal and professional secrets to our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani. Both are successful in their own right, but we asked Pallavi an interesting question: has she ever influenced Vivek’s decisions in filmmaking or shared her opinions? She replied, “We’ve had creative differences”.
She explained that they have always had such discussions, but the final decision should be made individually. “I wouldn’t even dream of influencing Vivek,” she said. She only offers suggestions when he asks and makes him aware of potential “dangers”.

Respecting Each Other’s Space
Our conversation continued with Pallavi saying, “Vivek has a very deep understanding of life in general.” She also stated that she never stops him from doing what he wants. She added that his films, which often stir controversy, are not made to provoke intentionally. He creates them because he is influenced by certain cultures and wants to showcase them to the audience. She also shared that she often helps in carrying out the research for his movies.
At one point, Vivek was visibly frustrated with work. Pallavi gave him a choice: either become a hit director or a director with credibility. That moment became a turning point in his career, and he never looked back. He said, “Yeh mujhe bohot influence karti hai.”
The conversation happened over a hearty Sunday brunch spread, which included healthy Oat Idlis with Sambhar, Black Rice, and Mutton Chops with Pav. We also discussed their love story, how Vivek is a vegetarian while Pallavi isn’t. They also shared several interesting life anecdotes. For all the details, you’ll have to watch the full episode.
