At Vinu’s Igloo in Chennai an ice cream cone, irrespective of the rising inflation, and increasing demand for ice cream amid scorching summers still costs just ₹2. An Instagram vlogger, @whatafoodiegirl shared a reel of her visit to Vinu’s Igloo for the famous ₹2 ice cream. Showing a ₹2 coin to the camera, she asks her followers if they can believe an ice cream costs so less. If you’re not convinced she shows her bill too. And it’s true. The vlogger orders her ice creams at the corner and then stands proudly holding two softy cones with swirls of white and light green.

She heartily explains that on one hand she holds the smaller ₹2 ice cream cone, and on the other hand she holds the ₹8 ice cream cone. If you’re wondering what the ice cream flavours are, she says it’s a mix of vanilla and cardamom. That explains the softy cone having swirls of white and green. But here’s the twist, Vinu’s Igloo keeps changing its flavours. So, you got to try the flavour of the day.

In an interview with CNBC TV18, V Vinoth, who runs the ice cream parlour candidly says they don’t make any profit on these budget-friendly ice cream cones.

Yet, he quips that the customers who come for this novelty, often end up purchasing high-end ice creams like the famous milk dessert Paalkova, brownie with ice cream and cake with ice cream. And if you’re wondering about the quality, V Vinoth assures customers that ₹2 ice cream comes from the same container as the ₹20 one. They’re both made from pure milk.
