Bhupender Yadav is the Union Minister for environment, forest, and climate change and recently he said that the collaboration between India’s G20 presidency and Japan’s G7 presidency is a chance for both the countries to plan and work on the agenda focussing on a bright future. He shared his views on this while addressing the India-Japan Environment Week at the bilateral meeting.

The bilateral meeting was attended by the Minister of the Environment of Japan, Akihiro Nishimura, as well. India is looking forward to a collaboration with Japan’s G7 presidency with India’s G20 presidency and hopes that the fight against climate change will unite the world as one family”, Yadav said in the meeting. He also emphasised points such as “collective action guided by the founding principles of the Rio Convention” to deal with the challenges and issues faced because of immense climate change, pollution, and loss in biodiversity.

We also held talks on G7/G20 collaboration, along with marine and plastic waste.
Stressed that India and Japan may explore strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially on circular economy and resource efficiency, low carbon technology, green hydrogen.

He wrote about the meaningful collaboration between the presidencies to fight against climate change and unite the world as “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.
Further emphasized that orienting industrial development towards sustainable production and to be a tool for nudging sustainable consumption taking forward Mission LIFE is the need of the hour.

Yadav also shared how Mission LIFE is essential at this moment. This is a crucial aspect of the working groups in several departments.

Minister Akihiro Nishimura shared during the meeting that these actions are very important to work for the environmental issues faced globally. Now India and Japan need to focus on cooperating and working together for these changes in international society. He also focused on the mobilisation of private-sector funds so that they can match the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Agreement.
