Measures Taken By Indore To Maintain Its Cleanest City Status
Indore has been consistent with its cleanliness ranking due to the persistent effort of the Indore administration. Citizens are also fined for not following proper cleanliness guidelines. Indore also removed large public dustbins and rather collects garbage house to house. The roads of Indore get cleaned at night instead of morning. So when people venture out into the streets in the morning they can witness a clean and tidy city. Children also take part in cleanliness drives to create awareness. They act as ambassadors of cleanliness in Indore. Interestingly, Indore ranked at 149th position in 2015 for cleanliness. But in just 2 years, the city worked hard to maintain cleanliness and emerged as the cleanest city in India.
Notably, 4000 cities are included in the cleanliness survey. It also includes sparsely populated cities termed as local bodies. So, a maximum number of municipal corporations can fix their accountability. The cleanliness survey ranked a total of 6 cities namely, Indore, Ambikapur, Navi Mumbai, Surat, Rajkot, and Mysuru are ranked as 5-star cities. It ranked 86 cities as 3-star. And 64 cities as 1-star. Meanwhile, check out this video from Madhya Pradesh’s Kanha forest.
