Taking inspiration from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Himachal Pradesh government will soon transform Gobind Sagar Lake into an attractive tourist hub.
Himachal Pradesh Govt. To Develop Gobind Sagar Lake
As per an article on CNBC TV18, Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadik of Bilaspur revealed the government’s latest plans for tourism. This involves, firstly, the inspection of the Jeori-Pattan area at Gobind Sagar Lake. In this area lies a major island which has the potential to be developed into a tourist hub. In order the revitalise tourism in this region and highlight the lake’s natural beauty, the government will carry forward this plan.
Sadik stated to CNBC TV18 that the project will position Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh as a key tourism centre. On completion of the project, visitors can look forward to a one-of-a-kind experience. Like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gobind Sagar Lake will also feature an array of adventure activities. This includes water sports, camping and cultural activities.

Water Sports, Cultural Festivals At More
Adventure junkies can camp at eco-friendly camping sites in Jeoripattan. Visitors can make cherishable memories by the bonfire. Traditional music and a lively atmosphere are other attractive aspects one can look forward to in the future. The DC also added that hiking routes and trails will also be developed around the popular lake. Whether it’s exploration by foot or a short picnic, guests might get an Andaman-like experience in the hilly getaway.
And that’s not all, to promote the culture of Bilaspur, the state government will host food and cultural festivals. The local dance, music and theatre performances will be highlighted. It will create a plethora of employment opportunities for locals including positions like camp service providers, hotel staff and tour guides.
While the focus will certainly be on promoting tourism, the government will also balance it with their environmental conservation goals. Eco-tourism will be at the helm of affairs underscoring the aim of empowering the local communities.
