The secret to Shilpa Shetty’s lithe physique is yoga. The actress has numerous yoga tutorial videos and books to her name. This time, inspired by the yoga asana, chakki chalasana, Shilpa Shetty tried her hand at grinding grains the traditional way during her trip to Rajasthan. Having Practiced Chakki Chalasana, Shilpa Shetty Tries Grinding Grains Traditionally

Shilpa Shetty took to Instagram to share a memorable moment during her recent trip to Rajasthan. In her reel, the actress watched a woman grinding grains in a chakki. The traditional stone-ground wheat or Chakki Atta is known for being richer in nutrients than the regular atta or wheat. Chakki is a horizontal grinding mill that is used to ground wheat, pulses and other food grains. It retains its natural texture and also prevents the loss of nutrients.

Watching the Rajasthani woman traditionally grind grains, the Sukhee actress, a yoga practitioner remembered Chakki Chalasana—a yoga asana that imitates the grinding grains in a chakki or stone grinder. Shilpa Shetty instantly wanted to grind grains traditionally. The actress’s expressions prove that it certainly wasn’t an easy task. In her caption, Shilpa Shetty called it a “workout”. And even joked that one would end up digesting all the makki rotis one eats just by using the stone grinder.

She Listed The Benefits Of This Yoga Asana

While most of us may not have the opportunity to traditionally grind grains, we can certainly practice Chakki Chalasana to keep our bodies healthy. Shilpa Shetty lists the benefits of this yoga asana in her Instagram caption. She states that this yoga posture strengthens the arms, stimulates reproductive organs and improves digestion. Furthermore, it also increases the flexibility of the hamstring and back muscles.

However, people who suffer from back pain and slip-disc during pregnancy must avoid this posture, she warns. Going back to her roots and working the actual chakki has made Shilpa Shetty immensely respect the people who do this regularly.
