Italy Visa For Indians –
Italy is a part of the Schengen area and hence you will have to get a Schengen visa. 26 European countries that fall in the Schengen area are –
Austria, Belgium, CzechRepublic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Schengen Area 
These European countries came together to have no boundaries and borders internally. Schengen countries function under the same jurisdiction for travel purposes, this makes the journey easier. They have abolished all kinds of restrictions at their borders.
The benefit that tourists have is that they do not have to get a visa every time they cross a border of the Schengen area.

Please Note- Italy does not allow visa on arrival for Indian passport holders.

Types Of  Italy Visa for Indians – 

Tourist Visa – Tourists who want to visit Italy for travel purposes or even to meet family and friends van take tick this visa type in their online application form. A Schengen tourist visa allows a  stay for a period of 90 days

Business Visa – Business Visa is for ones who are travelling for strictly work purposes and nothing other than that. This stay also allows a period of 90 days into the country of Italy.

Study Visa- This visa applies to students who have already got admission in the school/college for a particular course in Italy. The institute will provide documents like an acceptance certificate and an admission certificate. The duration of this will be for 90 days, however, it may change based on the need of the course.

Sports Visa – This visa is applicable for sportsmen who are travelling to Italy for professional players and also amateurs who want to come to Italy for a particular sport. This visa type can also be availed by Sports Referees and judges.

Transit Visa – Transit Visa is for people who want to take a connecting flight from Italy to some other country. This visa will only allow your entry into the country for a limited period of time.

Religious Visa – This type of visa is used by people who want to perform some ritual or carry religious activities, conducting worship, guidance on religion and more such things in Italy.

Long Term “D” Type- Long term visa is a visa that extends to a period of more than 90 days. It is also called “National Visa” and can be granted only on valid reasons approved by the government of Italy.

Short Term Visas- Schengen “C'” Type is valid up to 90 days, there are two types of short term visa type 1 is Uniform Schengen Visa which is valid for the entire territory to the Schengen countries. Type 2 is Limited Territorial Validity Visas this validates your entry into more than one Schengen area.

Short Term Visa Fees – ₹ 4820
Short Term Visa for children in the age group 6-12 – ₹ 2,746.47
Transit Visa – ₹ 4,708.56
Children less than 6 years- Free

Documents For Italy Visa For Indians
-Passport valid for at least 3 months
-Visa application form (online application)
-2 passport photograph (Recently Clicked)
-Visa fee receipt
-Financial Statement (e.g. Bank statement that is not older than 3 months)
-Flight Tickets
– Hotel booking proof
-A letter of invitation from a friend or family member if they sponsor you.
– Income Tax Return (ITR) form

Please Note- For Business Visa and student visa will require additional documents. Business visa will need a letter from the company inviting the concerned individual, leave letter from their office, a letter confirming the reason for their visit and their stay in Italy.
Students will require a letter from the college/school confirming their admission. A letter from the college supporting the visa document.
