Dubai Announces Smart System That Renew Emiratis’ Passports Automatically

A new smart system will simplify life for Emiratis in Dubai. They will no longer need to put a mark in the calendar the day to renew their passports before they expire. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai will use artificial intelligence to issue notifications when passports are drawing close to their renewal dates. AI will identify the expiry dates of each passport and will contact its holder asking their preferred delivery method.

Renew Your Emirates ID And Visa At The Same Time

You can now renew your emirates ID and visa at the same time, from the comfort of your home. No more waiting in long queues for hours together! You don’t have to walk down to a typing centre to renew your Emirates id and visa anymore. You can do it all from the comfort of your home and at the same time. How cool is that! According to a senior General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs official, residents who want to renew their visa or emirates id can fill up the application form online, without visiting the centre directly.

Download The GDRFA Application

All you need to do is download the GDRFA app. For those of you who do not know about the app, this application provides you access to the most frequently required services of Dubai Immigration. The app also assists you with the location of Dubai Immigration (GDRFA) offices, and answers legal concerns related to the immigration rules and policy. And the latest feature of the app, is that it allows you to apply for visit and resident visas from inside and outside the country. That’s not  all! You can also track the progress of your applications. Applications received through the app will be processed within one to three days, compared to the two-week waiting time earlier.

And to add on, Dubai is well on the road to innovation this year. From smart pharmacies operated by robots to smart gates at the airport that can scan your health and the AI-driven x-ray that will take only one second, residents have a whole lot to boast about the city. Kudos Dubai!

Meanwhile, don’t forget to update your Emirates id details with your bank before 15 February. If not, your ATM card might stop working temporarily.
