Jaipur is all set to witness a remarkable transformation in its urban transport infrastructure. The Rajasthan government has greenlit an ambitious expansion plan for the Jaipur Metro, which includes the construction of 35 new stations stretching from Sitapura in the south to Todi Mod in the north. This project is poised to significantly improve citywide connectivity and reduce traffic congestion.
Jaipur Metro Expansion To Connect More Corners Of The City
The second phase of the Jaipur Metro expansion, also called the Orange Line, spans 23.51 kilometres and includes both elevated and underground sections. With 21 elevated and 14 underground stations, the route will connect vital parts of the city such as Sitapura Industrial Area, Pratap Nagar, Mansarovar, Civil Lines, Sindhi Camp, Chandpole, and Vidhyadhar Nagar.

The planned extension has been strategically designed to link high-density residential, commercial, and institutional areas. This development is expected to drastically cut down commute times and ease the pressure on Jaipur’s congested roads.
₹12,000 Crore Budget & A Dedicated Metro Authority
To ensure smooth execution and accountability, the state has created the Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC), a joint initiative between the Central and State governments. The RMRC will supervise the metro expansion from planning to operations. A whopping ₹12,000 crore has been earmarked for Phase 2, marking the most substantial investment in Jaipur Metro since its inception.
Interestingly, this phase also includes plans to connect Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar through potential future routes, making the Jaipur Metro more accessible to the city’s expanding suburbs.
Modern Public Transport For A Growing City
The city’s urban landscape is changing fast, and this expansion aligns perfectly with Jaipur’s future-ready vision. The new stations will not only improve intra-city travel but also promote eco-friendly commuting by reducing dependency on private vehicles.
