Known as one of the largest airlines in the world, Japan Airlines is all set to soon launch self-flying air taxi services. Yes, you read that right. A California-based company, Wisk Aero in Mountain View, and Japan Airlines have announced a partnership. The two companies will soon come up with self-flying air taxis, and this has created a lot of excitement in the air.
Self-Flying Air Taxi Services In Japan
Wisk Aero is a manufacturer of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) craft that can fly on their own. The two businesses have launched a collaboration to lay the foundation for autonomous flying. A framework for the collaboration has been established by a signed memorandum of agreement.
The beginning of fleet operations, the construction of a Wisk operation, and the introduction of autonomous aircraft in Japan will be the main goals of this new collaboration.
The firms want to cooperate with the Japanese government agencies to open a flight path for air taxis over the entire nation. This will be done by certifying and demonstrating Wisk’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft there.

Capacity of 4, Extra Room For Luggage
In order to do a demonstration flight and eventually launch a commercial fleet, they will jointly conduct research on various things. It includes certification, maintenance, overhaul, and airspace integration of Wisk’s Generation 6 eVTOL.
Wiak’s Generation 6 eVTOL is “the world’s first all-electric, autonomous, four-seat eVTOL air taxi designed for passenger transport.”
Averaging 2,500 to 4,000 feet in altitude and capable of 138 mph, Generation 6 has a wingspan of less than 50 feet. The claimed 90-mile range and 15-minute charge time allow for relatively short trips through Japan’s crowded urban areas. The self-flying air taxi has a capacity of four and has room for carry-on luggage. (As per iotworldtoday and flyingmag)
