The Kalu River in Thane and the Kundalika River in Raigad are nearing their danger mark after heavy downpours lashed Maharashtra. As per the officials, the warning level for the Kundalika River is 23 metres and it is currently flowing at 22.5 metres. For the Kalu River, the warning level is at 102 metres and it was last noted flowing at 101.1 metres. The heavy rainfall has also affected the train services in various parts of the state. Kalu & Kundalika Rivers Near Danger Mark After Heavy Rainfall
Maharashtra experienced heavy rainfall, which has led to waterlogging in various cities and has also caused the water level of rivers in the state to rise. Kalu River in Thane and Kundalika River in Raigad are currently flowing near their respective danger marks.
As per a Business Standard report, the Superintendent Engineer of Thane Region has confirmed that these two rivers are nearing their danger mark. According to him, the danger mark of the Kundalika River is 23 metres and it has been noted to be flowing at 22.5 metres currently. The Kalu River is currently flowing at 101.1 metres and its danger mark is 102 metres.
Furthermore, the incessant rainfall has caused waterlogging in various places across Mumbai and nearby areas which has hampered the train services. The Central Railways has suspended train services on the main line down and up the fast line between CSMT-Thane. Services at the Harbour line are also temporarily suspended due to waterlogging at Chunabhatti.

Besides the rising water levels of Kalu and Kundalika rivers, IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated pockets across Mumbai till July 12. According to the Business Standard report, they have also issued a red alert in the city for heavy rainfall. Seeing the state of the city, BMC has issued a helpline number – 1916 – for the residents of Mumbai. They have also asked people not to step outside unless absolutely necessary.
IMD has predicted heavy to moderate rainfall in Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nasik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Sholapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal till July 12.

Mumbai woke up to waterlogged roads and railway tracks on Monday morning and the state of the city is no better yet. Authorities in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Alibaug, and Panvel have declared holidays in schools and colleges till July 9 due to ongoing heavy rains and waterlogging.
