In a remarkable achievement, Gaggal Airport, located in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, has claimed the top position in the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) Customer Satisfaction Survey for 2024. This prestigious recognition reflects the airport’s commitment to delivering exceptional passenger experiences and service quality.

Gaggal Airport’s rise to the number one spot in the AAI survey is a testament to its ongoing efforts to enhance passenger services. The airport has introduced additional flights, including a new service to Chandigarh, bringing the total to two flights on this route. Presently, the airport handles 18 flight movements daily, accommodating nine aircraft.

New Flight Routes On The Horizon

In a move to further expand connectivity, Gaggal Airport is set to introduce flights to Jaipur and Dehradun. These new routes have already received approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and AAI, marking a significant step towards increased accessibility for passengers.

Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic

The airport’s consistent efforts have also led to a notable surge in passenger traffic. In 2024, Gaggal Airport recorded its highest-ever footfall, with 208,275 passengers, a significant rise from 193,114 in 2023 and 176,015 in 2022. This trend underscores the growing preference for Gaggal Airport among travellers.

Strategically located, Gaggal Airport serves as a key gateway to popular leisure and pilgrimage destinations, including Jwalamukhi Temple, Chintpurni, Chamunda Devi, Brajeshwari Devi, Kangra Fort, the cricket stadium in Dharamshala, Bir-Billing, and McLeodganj, the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama.

The Himachal Pradesh government is also actively working on expanding the airport to accommodate increased demand and enhance facilities. Gaggal Airport’s achievement in the AAI survey not only recognises its present success but also sets the stage for continued growth in the aviation sector.
