While this lockdown means that our movements are restricted to ensure the containment of the COVID-19 virus, there are many people around the country who are yet to take this seriously. Many cases of people violating the lockdown and moving around have been found across the country. In Karnataka, the police had confiscated the vehicles of many such offenders and now they seem to have found another way to ensure people stay indoors.

What’s In It?

The Karnataka police are making violators clean public places for not following the lockdown orders. As the Hindu stated, violators in the Mandya district were made to clean the Devirammanni Lake on the outskirts of the town. This move has been useful and been praised by people as it ensures that our natural surroundings too, remain clean while the violators dare not repeat their mistake.

Taking this forward, the Jaipur Police showed their witty self with a twitter post. In the post that said if people are found “roaming outside their house unnecessarily,” the person will be put in a room where Masakali 2.0 will be played on loop. Now that is a loopy punishment indeed! The Jaipur Police also altered the lyrics of Masakali and used it in the caption of the post. “Mat udiyo, tu dariyo. Na kar manmani, manmani. Ghar mein hi rahiyo, naa kar naadani. Ae masakali, masakali.”
