Vande Bharat Express trains in India have changed the way people look at rail travel. Journeys that once took long hours are now shorter by 2–3 hours, making a big difference. Now, Indian Railways is all set to expand Vande Bharat services in Karnataka by connecting Bengaluru and Mangaluru. Scroll down to know more!

Vande Bharat Express Train To Expand In Karnataka

The new Vande Bharat Express will be run and maintained by the South Western Railway (SWR) zone. The Indian Express, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the update during a press conference in Bengaluru. He said the train will start only after the electrification work is completed and all safety approvals are cleared. Once it begins, travel between Bengaluru and Mangaluru is expected to become much faster and smoother.

Right now, Karnataka has 22 Vande Bharat services, which means 11 pairs of trains running on different routes. All of them either start from or end in the state. And here’s the interesting part — 14 of these services are connected to the Bengaluru region. So yes, Bengaluru is clearly the Vande Bharat hotspot of Karnataka, with most of the action happening here.

Advanced Features In The New Train

The new Bengaluru–Mangaluru Vande Bharat train will come with advanced features. According to The Indian Express, it will have the KAVACH safety system. The coaches will use semi-permanent couplers for a smoother and jerk-free ride. The train will have automatic plug doors and sealed gangways. Passengers will get emergency alarm buttons and talk-back units in every coach.

The train will also include aerosol-based fire detection systems in electrical cabinets and toilets. It will support a top design speed of 180 kmph and an operating speed of 160 kmph. The driver and guard will have a voice-recorded communication system with crash-hardened memory.

Other features include CCTV cameras in all coaches, UV-C-based air disinfection in AC units, better ride comfort, and a Coach Condition Monitoring System with remote access. The train will also provide a special lavatory for Divyangjan passengers in the driving coaches at both ends.
