India celebrated its 77th Republic Day with grand celebrations at New Delhi’s Kartavya Path, with a parade that definitely left a mark. But that was not all. Many other cities, shrines, and temples across the country celebrated the nation in their own way. Let’s take a look at some of the ways India marked its 77th Republic Day this year. Republic Day Celebrations In India

The grand celebrations of the 77th Republic Day officially began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial in Delhi. Here, he laid a wreath and paid homage to the fallen soldiers. Kartavya Path was beautifully decorated to showcase India’s rich history and its long journey as a nation. This year, the theme of the Republic Day celebrations was ‘150 Years of Vande Mataram’.

President Droupadi Murmu also shared glimpses from the celebrations and wrote, “The impressive parade stood as a fitting tribute to national unity, the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, India’s military strength, and rich cultural diversity.”

According to a report by NDTV, the parade showcased a battle array format of the Indian Army for the first time, including the aerial component. It was a full-fledged military display that highlighted India’s strength and preparedness. As per a report by The Hindu, one of the major attractions was the tri-services tableau. It featured replicas of weapon systems deployed during Operation Sindoor.

The celebrations at Kartavya Path were attended by European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who were the chief guests this year. PM Modi shared glimpses of the parade that celebrated India’s cultural diversity through vibrant performances and colourful tableaux.
