More than 30,000 devotees visited the Kedarnath Temple on the first day of opening doors this season. As per the official data shared, 19,196 men, 10,597 women, and 361 others visited Kedarnath on May 2. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Dham portal opening ceremony.

According to NDTV, the Indian Army’s Garhwal Rifles band also participated in the opening day celebration of Kedarnath Dham Yatra. The army band played devotional music on the occasion. CM Dhami, after the opening ceremony, joined and distributed prasad to devotees at the Mukhya Sevak Bhandara that was held at the Kedarnath temple premises.

The CM also announced that the doors of Badrinath Dham will open on May 4. While talking about the Char Dham Yatra, he said that Uttarakhand is “fully prepared to welcome devotees from across the country”. He added that the authorities are constantly monitoring the pilgrimage and ensuring that all basic facilities are available for the devotees. He even mentioned that the “Char Dham Yatra is the lifeline of Uttarakhand” as it provides livelihood to millions of people in the state.

While talking about the redevelopment of the Kedarnath Dham, the CM also revealed the state’s plan to allocate ₹2,000 to revamp and reconstruct the temple complex. Additionally, the construction of a ropeway from Gaurikund to Kedarnath has been approved by the government to improve mobility.

Helicopter Services Begin For Char Dham Yatra

On Saturday, helicopter services for Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham commenced from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. This is a major boost for the devotees heading to attend the Char Dham Yatra. Since the four Dhams are nestled at a height, helicopter services offer a faster and more convenient alternative for devotees.

According to a Mid-Day report, the helicopter services will allow devotees to visit both Kedarnath and Badrinath in a single day. The fare for this one-day Do Dham Yatra has been set at ₹1.25 lakh per person. The three-day package, which includes all facilities, is priced at ₹1.45 lakh.
