Kerala Ranks Among ‘New York Times’ List Of 52 Best Destinations To Explore In 2023

God’s own country, Kerala, has grabbed the 13th rank on the list of the World’s 52 best destinations by the New York Times. It is the only state in India to receive a spot on the prestigious list. Kerala has mesmerised reviewers with its alluring backwaters, breathtaking beaches, lip-smacking cuisine and vibrant festivals.

Kerala Gets 13th Rank On List Of World’s 52 Best Destinations

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, expressed his contentment on Twitter after the state received the reputable position and has called it an ‘exciting achievement’. As the New York Times explains, Kerala is a South Indian state with backwaters, beaches, cuisine, rich cultural traditions, and more.

The global report has also lauded the state’s efforts to implement responsible tourism in places like Maravanthuruthu and Kumarakom. The report focused on the temple dances in Maravanthuruthu and the picturesque canals and coconut fibre ropes of Kumarakom. It has stated that the state can render one the authentic taste of rural life. Earlier in 2022, Kerala had also bagged the Global Vision Award for eco-friendly tourism.

Other Destinations On The List

Other destinations on the list include the UK’s London, California’s Palm Springs,  Vietnam’s Ha Giang, New Zealand’s Auckland, Australia’s Kangaroo Island, Japan’s Morioka, Norway’s Tromso and Albania’s Vjosa River. Four Asian countries, namely, India, Japan, Vietnam and Bhutan have made themselves to the list. Kerala Tourism has also launched luxury caravans to let travellers explore its scenic valleys on wheels.
