Kerala’s Girls Night Out Campaign Encourages Women To Step Out In Dark

Girls night out

How many of you women or girls wished they were a guy every time they think about stepping out in the dark? Well, A town in Kerala thought of coming up with a campaign only to encourage women to step out at night. Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam district organised a four-day-long ‘Girls Night Out’ campaign which was an initiative by their MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan.

Girls Night Out Campaign In Kerala

The Girls Night Out campaign was an initiative to encourage girls and women to confidently step out after sunset. There were many activities organised under this campaign like festive lighting, food stalls, Zumba dance and training, a woman’s marathon and live music performances. They were also provided with a platform to speak about the everyday inconveniences they have to face like the lack of public toilets. Another motive was to create nightlife in this town and turn the street into a lively one. Earlier the town would be shut by 8-8:30 pm and the streets would go dark making it more difficult to step out. To bring a change in this system and to ask women to leave their houses without having to worry about anything, this Girls night out was launched.

His post read that the day, night, the earth, the sky, everything is owned equally by everyone but it’s the society that brought in the difference.
