Have you heard about the ongoing heavy rainfall in most parts of Maharashtra? If you are not from this state, search for weather updates online and you might be shocked to see how several areas here are receiving incessant showers. The rainy season feels pleasant only when we are indoors in the comfort of our homes. The experience of the outdoors is just unbearable, especially at waterlogged places. Recently, people had a tough time travelling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway because of heavy rains.

Waterlogged Mumbai-Pune Expressway Created Major Issues For Travellers

MG 🇮🇳 (@mgnayak5) shared a video of traffic disruption on the expressway.

Videos and pictures of this crucial road connectivity are making rounds on social media platforms. The visuals show a part of the Mumbai-Pune expressway waterlogged dreadfully on Sunday. Only one side of the road accumulated rainwater to about knee-length and drivers clearly faced issues driving vehicles while crossing that part and navigating properly.

It began raining at around 4 PM on Sunday. According to a report by The Times of India, the waterlogging was reported between the Bor Ghat tunnel and Amrutanjan Point. Massive rainfall for about 15 minutes triggered chaos and waterlogging at this specified area on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The major accumulation of rainwater harshly affected the smooth flow of vehicles on the submerged section.

It was a major obstacle as the low-lying area was waterlogged with mist interfering too. While it was raining, the surroundings turned quite misty and it became a trouble for drivers to focus on the road efficiently.

Vehicles Were Stopped In Between

Though it rained for only around 15 minutes, its intensity was enough to create major problems on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. Traffic was disrupted so terribly that the authorities had to stop transportation for some time. According to a report by Punenow News, regular transportation was temporarily hated for about 20 minutes. Next, the water was drained out. Lastly, the vehicular movement began again at about 5 PM after fixing the problems.

Once the issue was resolved in less than an hour, people restarted their journeys slowly on the affected area of the Mumbai-Pune expressway.
