Ladakh’s Nyoma Will Soon Be Home To World’s Highest Fighter Airfield Constructed By BRO India

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is all set to construct the world’s highest fighter airfield in Ladakh. According to their official statement, this airfield will be constructed in the Nyoma region of Ladakh. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lay its foundation stone on September 12, 2023, from the Devak Bridge in Jammu.

World’s Highest Fighter Airfield is Coming To India

BRO (Border Roads Organisation) announced that soon Ladakh will be home to the world’s highest fighter airfield on X (formerly Twitter).

Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry, head of the Border Roads Organization, previously predicted that India will surpass China in the next two to three years due to the aggressive efforts being made by the Narendra Modi-led NDA administration to build infrastructure along the 3,488 km section of the Line of Actual Control.

In the past two to three years, he claimed, 295 projects totaling ₹11,000 crore had been finished. (As per NDTV)

Funds And Necessary Tools Are Available

The BRO chief said that China began its push for infrastructure development all along LAC much before India and a decade ago. India’s thinking about infrastructure development along the 3,488 km stretch was a little bit defensive. He was comparing the current administration with previous governments regarding infrastructure development along borders.

However, the current administration has altered this way of thinking and its approach, and it is now funding them and providing all additional tools necessary to speed up activities along the LAC, according to Lt. Gen. Chaudhary.

Chaudhry noted the funding that has been set aside recently by the Central government for the construction of infrastructure along the LAC, noting that in 2008, the allocation was roughly ₹3,000 crore. It rose to between ₹5000 and ₹6000 crore in 2017. It climbed after that, reaching ₹8,000 crore in 2019. And around ₹12,340 crore was spent in the previous year. (As per NDTV)
