NCR is about to get a lion safari and we could not be more excited.
What Is It?
The Haryana Government has lately kicked off a project that will focus on starting a lion safari in the National Capital Region (NCR). The main motive of the project is to promote tourism in this region.
Referring to the development, Rao Narbir Singh, Minister of Environment, Forest and Wildlife, Haryana, said, “We have directed officials to choose ideal places according to the required climate for lions. The officials have been asked to search potential places in two districts―Gurugram and Faridabad―having congenial environment and a mixture of adequate green cover and sandy area in the foothills of the Aravallis.”

It is further decided that the lion safari in NCR will be built on the same lines as the Gir Forest National Park. Also, the park will facilitate in serving as a breeding space for the endangered species.
The officials also said that, “The government of Haryana wants to develop lion safari in the backyard of Delhi, and has therefore chosen NCR regions of Gurugram and Faridabad. This will help tourists experience the amazing world of wild animals.”
