Instagram user Jyoti Rajput and her friends had to face turmoil after booking a three-bedroom Roselle villa in Lonavala hosted on a villa rental company. She took to Instagram to share her “terrible” experience there.
Woman Shares Details Of Stressful Time At Lonavala Villa
According to Jyoti’s post, she and her party were asked to leave the Lonavala villa that they rented. The property was named SaffronStays Roselle villa and they booked it via MakeMyTrip. “3 hours before a birthday celebration, we were asked to leave. We waited for 40 minutes for the caretaker to arrive and unlock the gates for us. Finally, another guy who handles other villas here helped us,” she explained.
After entering the villa, they were asked to wait in the living room while a team took up some AC repair work. Jyoti mentioned that they were asked for a “surprise deposit of ₹9K for security deposit.”
This was absolutely shocking to them because it wasn’t mentioned to them beforehand and the group had already paid the full amount of ₹19k in advance. The villa and the pool there were allegedly dirty, and when the group asked them to take care of it all, the caretaker asked them to pay the deposit first.

“After this chaos, we clearly conveyed to them to give us the basic fixations after which we would pay the deposit amount. We complained about it and the doors were locked. The police intervened and asked them to leave immediately. Pool cleaning took place at 10:15 PM. Still couldn’t get in touch with the owners even after all this,” she explained.
What The Company Had To Say About This Entire Ordeal
SaffronStays responded to Jyoti’s complaint about the Lonavala villa in the comments of the post. To give netizens “balanced perspective” and their side of the story, they shared that the booking was made at 5:30 PM for a same-day check-in. The group arrived at 7 PM.
“As this is a private 3-bedroom homestay and not a commercial hotel with 24×7 staffing, our caretaker had briefly stepped away, and pool maintenance had commenced, assuming no bookings for the day. Nevertheless, our team made every effort to welcome you with care: facilitating timely access, preparing the pool beyond regular operational hours, and even granting access to the kitchen — all of which were thoughtful exceptions to our standard policies,” SaffronStays explained.
“During your stay, additional guests and a pet were hosted without prior intimation or corresponding charges, and breakfast was extended to the entire group, again without settlement. While we always aim to accommodate our guests with flexibility, we also rely on mutual trust and adherence to the guidelines in place to ensure consistency and fairness for all,” they added.
