December 6th is observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas, which is the death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. On this day, a lot of people travel to Mumbai from various locations to pay respect to Dr Ambedkar. This time, in order to manage the crowd, Central Railway has announced to operate 14 unreserved special trains—check timings and routes here.
Mahaparinirvan Diwas: Central Railway To Operate 14 Unreserved Special Trains
The Central Railway has declared that 14 unreserved special trains will operate on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas, in preparation for the higher passenger traffic that is expected. The extra trains are intended to handle the increase in commuters who will be travelling to attend events and honour on December 6.
On December 7, 2023, at 1.30 pm, a one-way Superfast unreserved special train (number 02040) will leave Ajni and arrive at CSMT Mumbai at 4.10 am. Ajni, Wardha, Pulgaon, Dhamangaon, Badnera, Akola, Shegaon, Malkapur, Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Dadar, and CSMT Mumbai are among the places the train will stop.
Furthermore, for the advantage of passengers travelling on Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Central Railway has decided to add one General Second Class coach to Train No. 11401 CSMT Mumbai-Adilabad Express.
1. Nagpur To CSMT
- Special Train No. 01262 will depart from Nagpur at 11.55 pm on 4th December and reach CSMT Mumbai at 3.30 pm on the following day.
- Special train no. 01264 will depart Nagpur at 8 hrs on 5th December and reach CSMT Mumbai at 11.45 hrs the same night.
- Special Train No.01266 will depart Nagpur at 3.50pm on December 5, and arrive at CSMT Mumbai at 10.55am the next day.
Stops Included: Ajni, Wardha, Sewagram, Pulgaon, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Murtizapur, Jalamb, Akola, Malkapur, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Chalisgaon, Nasik Road, Manmad, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Kasara, Dadar, and CSMT.

2. CSMT To Nagpur
- Special Train No. 01249 will depart CSMT Mumbai at 4.45pm on December 6, reaching Ajni at 09.30 hrs the next day.
- Special Train No. 01251 will depart CSMT Mumbai at 6.35pm on December 6, arriving at Sevagram at 10.30am the following day.
- Special Train No. 01253 will depart Dadar at 12.40am on December 7, reaching Ajni at 3.55pm the same day.
- Special Train No. 01255 will depart CSMT Mumbai at 12.35pm on December 7, reaching Nagpur at 03.00 hrs the next day.
- Special Train No. 01257 will depart CSMT Mumbai at 6.35pm on December 8, reaching Nagpur at 12.10pm the next day.
- Special Train No. 01259 will depart Dadar at 12.40am on December 8, reaching Ajni at 3.55pm the same day.

3. Train Between Kalaburagi and Mumbai
- Special Train No. 01245 will depart Kalaburagi at 6.30pm on December 5, reaching CSMT at 8.20am the next day.
- Special Train No. 01246 will depart CSMT Mumbai at 00.25 on December 7, reaching Kalaburagi at 11.30am the same day.
