Maharashtra To Continue Lockdown Restrictions Till January 31 After Rise In COVID Cases

A new COVID-19 strain has been discovered in the UK, which is said to be seven times more dangerous than the novel coronavirus. This led to countries suspending flights to and from the UK and India, is not behind. Taking the necessary precautions, Maharashtra has imposed mandatory quarantine rules for all passengers travelling to India from Britain, Europe and Middle-Eastern countries. The government had decided to impose a seven-hour night curfew in cities across Maharashtra from 11pm to 6pm for 15 days.  However now, the Government has announced a lockdown in the state till January 31 after the rise in the COVID cases. The lockdown restrictions will be strictly followed in the containment zone. This decision was necessary as Maharashtra already accounts to more than 60% cases in the country.

New Quarantine Rules For Overseas Passengers

The decision for quarantine and lockdown was taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who said that the government and the people should be vigilant for the next 15 days. Please not that no RT-PCR test would be available for passengers travelling from Europe, UK or Middle-East. They have to undergo the mandatory 7-day institutional quarantine.
