Not just that, the CM has also mentioned that prasad should be free of adulteration.
Strict Guidelines For Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 Celebration
Ganesh Chaturthi, or Ganeshotsav, is a major 10-day Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. It is celebrated with great fervour in Maharashtra, where devotees bring idols of Lord Ganesha into their homes or set them up in public pandals. Rituals are performed, and prasad is distributed.
This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 14, 2026. Before that, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has issued some strict guidelines. According to The Times of India, he has directed Ganesh mandals to follow Food and Drug Administration (FDA) norms. The prasad served to people during the celebrations should be pure and free of adulteration.
He also directed the mandals to familiarise themselves with the norms and make efforts to seek training so that basic food-safety requirements are followed at all times.

Procession Routes Should Be Free Of Potholes
Ganeshotsav, or Ganesh Chaturthi, is one of the most loved festivals of Maharashtra. According to the CM, it should be celebrated with enthusiasm while preserving discipline and sanctity. According to The Times of India, he wants administrations, mandals and coordination committees to work together and remove all difficulties and shortcomings in the arrangements.
Municipal corporations have also been asked to ensure that the routes used for Ganesh idol processions remain in good condition. There should be no potholes, and adequate lighting should be available at night. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also appealed to organisers to keep children and devotees at a safe distance from large idols during arrival and immersion processions.
