Chef Mohsin Qureshi’s Eid Special Recipe

Eid al-Adha is the festival of sacrifice and holds significant importance for the Muslim community. It is celebrated to honour Ibrahim’s devotion and underscores the importance of charity within the people. Many donate food and meat to those in need, and it is celebrated on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijja, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar. Keeping this festive spirit in mind, Chef Mohsin Qureshi took to Instagram to share the recipe for Nawabi Gosht Masala, a flavoursome meaty dish that is perfect for the Eid celebration.

In his own words, the dish is succulent and will melt in the mouth when perfectly cooked. According to the chef, the dish will make you the star of every celebration as it doesn’t require much preparation and is made with easily available ingredients.

Here’s How You Can Make Nawabi Gosht Masala At Home

Now, if we have tempted you enough, here’s a complete breakdown of Chef Mohsin Qureshi’s Nawabi Gosht Masala recipe.

Ingredients

250 ml oil
300g diced onion
1 cinnamon stick
6 pc green cardamom
2 pc mace
½ nutmeg
2 pc bay leaf
4 pc big cardamom
1 kg mutton
4 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
Salt
1 tbsp turmeric powder
3 tbsp coriander powder
2 tbsp red chilli powder
3 cup water
2 tbsp coconut
150g cashew
10 pc dry red chillies
½ cup poppy seeds
Black pepper powder
Khushboo masala powder
Freshly chopped coriander

Method

1. In a vessel, pour the cooking oil and once it’s hot, add the onions and sautee them.
2. Then, add the cinnamon stick, green cardamom, mace, nutmeg, bay leaf, and big cardamom.
3. Next, add the star ingredient–mutton.
4. It’s now time to add the ginger-garlic paste and all the aforementioned spices.
5. Cook and mix all the ingredients in the vessel well, and add three cups of water.
6. Cover the vessel with a lid and let it slow cook (dum karna).
7. While the meat cooks, make a paste of coconut, cashew, dry red chillies, and poppy seeds.
8. Once the meat is cooked, add the paste and cook it well.
9. Finally, add some black pepper powder and khushboo masala powder, and slowly cook the dish with a lid on.
10. Sprinkle some freshly chopped coriander on top and enjoy!
