Man Orders Camera Worth ₹90K From Amazon; Gets A Bag Of Quinoa Instead

*In Oprah’s Voice* “You get a Scam, YOU get a scam and YOU also get a scam!”. With modern technology come modern fraudsters and scams. At some point, most of us if not everyone have been on the receiving end of this “digital looting”. And sadly, this man who ordered an item worth ₹90,000 only to receive a bag of grains from Amazon, just joined the club of scam victims.

Man Gets Quinoa Instead Of His ₹90K Camera Lens, From Amazon

Most of us shop online for the ease and convenience it offers along with the comfort of not having to leave our homes. But, this comfort comes at a cost of its own. Or at least it did for this man, who ordered a camera lens worth ₹90,000 and got a bag of quinoa instead.

The man, named Arun Kumar Meher, shared his ordeal via his Twitter page. He explained how he was frauded by the e-commerce giant and received a completely different and less valuable order than what he anticipated.

A box of Sigma lenses can be seen in the picture shared by the Twitter user, in which you can see that a transparent bag of Quinuo is in place of the camera lens. In his note addressed to Amazon, he shares that he ordered a Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 lens from Amazon on July 5.

It is not new to hear of such scams for sure, but it should be highly concerning how rapidly these numbers are growing. From people getting scammed online while buying something as inexpensive as samosas to people who are buying expensive camera lenses, no one seems to be spared.

It is also noteworthy that the scam happened on such a big and renowned e-commerce platform which is normally known for its swiftness and “customer first” approach. If this can happen on a platform like Amazon, then who does the normal public turn to?

Have you ever been a victim of such fraud? If so, let us know in the comments how you dealt with it.
