Recently, two women made history by becoming the first mother-daughter co-pilot duo to ever fly a plane internationally. Meet Teri Edison and Nicole McCallister, two women who managed to create history in an industry that is primarily male-dominated. They flew from Tennessee to Incheon becoming the first mother-daughter duo to accomplish such a feat.

First Mother-Daughter Duo To Fly A Plane Internationally

On the 27th of April, Teri Edison and Nicole McCallister flew from Tennessee in the United States of America or the US to Incheon in South Korea. In doing so, they created history and became the first mother-daughter duo to ever co-pilot an international plane.

It was a FedEx flight and both, the mother and daughter worked as pilots in the company. In an interview with Business Insider, Teri Edison revealed that around two weeks before the flight, which was scheduled to Incheon from the Memphis International Airport, she put in a request asking if her daughter, Nicole McCallister, could join as a co-pilot.

Luckily, the request went through and she got a chance to pilot a plane internationally alongside her daughter. However, this is not all. Since the flight was pretty long, pilots usually have another set of relief pilots. One of the relief pilots was Teri Edison’s husband.

Feat Coincides With Amelia Earhart’s Accomplishment

So it turned out that this flight was flown by a proficient family of pilots. Although, Teri did specify that her co-pilot, for the most part, was her daughter. It was nevertheless nice to have her husband onboard and it was a memorable experience for the family.

Coincidentally, this historic achievement also coincided with another remarkable and historic achievement in the history of aviation and women. It turns out that their flight took place nearly 91 years after Amelia Earhart’s first transatlantic flight. On the 21st of May in 1932, Amelia Earhart flew from Canada to Ireland thus becoming a pioneer.
