Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to launch Metro ticket booking across popular mobility platforms next month. This integration, enabled via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) initiative, will allow users to plan and pay for their entire journey without having to juggle between multiple apps. Auto, metro, cab and bus will be available from within a single app, promising enhanced convenience and efficiency.

The move is part of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) effort to digitise public transport and boost multi-modal connectivity. By combining Metro tickets and first and last-mile ride bookings in one app, the system simplifies travel and promotes cashless, tech-enabled commuting. This initiative comes at a key time as ridership continues to grow across the Bengaluru Metro network.

Rapido has already begun pilot testing Metro ticket booking within its app, as reported by Moneycontrol. Users will have the added benefit of a 20% discount on their first Metro ticket purchase. Soon, other aggregators such as Tummoc, Redbus, Google Maps, and Namma Yatri will also support Metro ticketing functionality.

As reported by Moneycontrol, BMRCL aims to deliver truly integrated mobility solutions. Commuters will use a single app to hail an auto or cab and buy metro tickets. The initiative hinges on BMRCL’s partnership with SequelString AI, which is connecting the Metro’s automated fare collection system to ONDC‑enabled platforms.

Rise Of Digital Ticketing: QR Tickets, Smart Cards And Tokens

In April 2025, BMRCL’s data revealed that nearly half of the commuters favoured smart cards, 29% used tokens, and 22.8 % opted for QR tickets. That month, the Metro carried about 22.8 million passengers. In addition to the new integration, services like WhatsApp (for QR‑code ticketing), and Amazon Pay and Paytm (for smart‑card recharging) remain available. Users can soon manage their entire itinerary via ONDC‑enabled mobility apps.

With Metro ticket booking via Rapido and other platforms, the city is steadily moving towards a smarter, more connected mobility future.
