1. Carrefour Ceases Operations In Bahrain

Since September 14, Carrefour has shut its doors in Bahrain. This comes after it was just in January that the retailer also stopped its operations in Oman. With more than 14,000 stores in over 40 countries, there are several of them in the Gulf region as well. This closure of operation comes at a time when Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim Group-owned HyperMax, a new grocery retail brand, was launched across the country in 11 locations.

2. Autonomous Delivery Vehicle Pilot Programme Launched

Abu Dhabi has launched a pilot programme for autonomous delivery vehicles. Yes, these self-driving delivery vehicles have been developed by K2 subsidiary Autogo. The trial operations are taking place in Masdar City, and such autonomous delivery vehicles aim to reduce congestion.

3. Opening Of New Emirates Crew Training Centre Announced

Emirates recently announced that a new crew training centre has opened. The state-of-the-art facility aligns with its strategic growth. The purpose-built and high-tech facility is spread across 63,318 ft.². Not to mention, it houses six full-flight simulator bays.

4. Saudi Arabia To Find Unlicensed Passenger Transport

Unauthorised passenger transport to now be faced with heavy financial and legal consequences. This is under the new law that was announced by the Transport General Authority of Saudi Arabia. It aims to eliminate practices of unlicensed operators. It therefore bans individuals from offering any kind of transport service without a valid license.

5. Overall Population Falls In Kuwait For Early 2025

The overall population according to the census by the Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau shows a decline for early 2025. The slight decline of 0.6% is as compared to 2024. However, the number of Kuwaiti citizens has continued to rise with there being an increase of 1.32%.
