From Qatar’s Boat Show Preps To Emirates’ Dubai-Kuwait Flights, 5 GCC Updates

5 GCC Updates To Know From Across The Region Today

1. Abu Dhabi Rolls Out New Family Health Model

Abu Dhabi is rolling out a new family health model across more than 3,800 healthcare facilities, putting prevention and connected care at the centre. The model covers family health screenings from age 18, genetic testing, newborn screening, primary care, and digital services. Emirati couples can access genetic testing covering more than 570 genes linked to over 840 medical conditions, while newborn screening covers more than 815 treatable genetic conditions. The Sehhatna app and Malaffi health information exchange are also designed to make records and appointments easier to manage for residents and families across the emirate this year.

2. Qatar Boat Show Preparations Are Underway

Old Doha Port is getting ready for the third Qatar Boat Show, taking place from November 4 to 7, 2026. The four-day event will bring together yachts, marine lifestyle experiences, dining, entertainment, and waterfront activities. Organisers are continuing work with exhibitors and partners, while more brands and experiences are expected to be announced before the show. Visitors can also use hotel partners and Qatar Airways arrangements.

3. Nol Cards Are Now Available At Al Ansari Exchange

Dubai commuters and visitors have another place to pick up a nol Travel Card. Selected Al Ansari Exchange branches are now selling the cards through a partnership with the RTA and MDX Technology Solutions. Nol cards work across Dubai Metro, Tram, buses, marine transport, and public parking and are accepted at more than 14,000 retail outlets across the UAE. The move adds another convenient purchase point for public transport users.

4. Emirates Resumes Dubai-Kuwait Service

Emirates has resumed its Dubai-Kuwait connection with one daily service. Flight EK857 leaves Dubai International Airport at 2:55 pm and reaches Kuwait International Airport at 3:45 pm. The return service, EK858, departs Kuwait at 5:40 pm. Both flights are scheduled on Airbus A350 aircraft, giving travellers another direct option between the two Gulf cities.

5. Abu Dhabi To Host First EuroLeague Basketball Supercup

Basketball fans have a sporting fixture to look forward to in Abu Dhabi. The first EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup will take place at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on September 18 and 19. Olympiacos Piraeus, Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul, Real Madrid, and Dubai Basketball will compete in a four-team knockout format. Two-day ticket packages are already available, while single-day tickets go on sale on August 31. With two games each day, the tournament adds another major international sporting event to Abu Dhabi’s September calendar.
