As revealed by Dubai RTA, a 1,500 m bridge is being developed. This is being done in collaboration with Shamal Holding, and it is scheduled to open in phases. It should be noted that this bridge would offer a direct connection between Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour. This will enhance mobility across the area and also ease congestion. It is a part of Dubai’s broad strategy, which aims to expand transport infrastructure. It is being done in line with the rapid urban development and rising tourism activity.
As mentioned by Mattar Al Tayer, who is the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, the development reflects the emirate’s commitment towards building infrastructure, which would support growth.

How Does It Make Commute Easier?
But what will it change? Well, as revealed by the RTA, motorists who are travelling from the Sheikh Zayed Road in both directions of Deira and Jebel Ali will get access to Dubai Harbour. This will directly be available through the new bridge, which is scheduled to open in phases starting this month. Additional traffic movements, such as routes from Dubai Harbour towards Al Naseem Street and linking to the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and Al Naseem Street, are also expected to open next month.
A Capacity For 6,000 Vehicles
It should be noted that this bridge starts at Interchange 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road near the American University. It extends to Dubai Harbour Street and crosses key intersections along the route. Featuring two lanes in each direction, it has a capacity to handle up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
So, with this update from the Dubai RTA, it’s bound to make life easier for commuters in the emirate.
