Recently, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority completed AED30 million Al Hisn Island Bridge project. This is in Dibba Al Hisn, and it is a part of the authority’s strategy of expanding the transport infrastructure in the emirate. Not to mention, it also aims to improve road connectivity. Sharjah RTA Completes 54 M Bridge In Sharjah

Recently, the Sharjah RTA completed the 54 m bridge spanning the Dibba Al Hisn waterway. It links both sides of Al Hisn Island and improves traffic flow, accessibility, and mobility. Not to mention, it also supports the city’s urban development. As mentioned in a report in the Gulf News, the project includes a 320 m dual carriageway, which connects the island’s internal roundabout with the external roundabout. This would be on the Dibba Al Hisn Beach Road that would provide a direct route for vehicles entering and leaving the island.

All You Need To Know About The Bridge

As further mentioned in the report, the road also features two traffic lanes in each direction. Each of these is 7.3 m wide, and it is separated by 4.6 m of central median. In fact, there is also a 3 m wide pedestrian walkway on both sides. Complete with decorative lighting columns along the road, there are even four pedestrian stairways that are designed to improve safety and accessibility.

A Part Of The Ongoing Plan To Modernise Roads In Sharjah

As it happens, the authority has also mentioned how the bridge has been designed to reflect Sharjah’s architectural identity. Not to mention, it also showcases the distinctive character of Dibba Al Hisn. As it combines engineering efficiency with aesthetic features, it is bound to enhance the urban landscape of the city.

In fact, the project also forms a part of the ongoing plan, which aims to modernise the roads in the emirate. Moreover, the aim is also to improve traffic movement and to support sustainable urban development. All of these are in line with a vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, who is Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

So, with the emirate inaugurating the new bridge, it’s bound to make accessibility to the island much better for visitors.
