The UAE has once again landed among the world’s top 10 governments for efficiency and effectiveness, according to the 2026 Chandler Good Government Index. The country kept its strong global position while also staying number one across the Arab world and the wider region. Officials say the result reflects years of building a government system that moves quickly, adapts fast and plans far ahead instead of reacting late.
UAE Holds Spot Among World’s Top 10 Governments In Global Ranking
For many residents, these rankings might sound distant or technical. But a lot of what gets measured here connects directly to everyday life, things like public services, jobs, long-term planning and how fast government systems actually work when people need them.
UAE Came Out Strong In Several Global Categories
The index reviewed 133 countries and looked at how governments perform across different areas. The UAE scored especially well in innovation and future planning.
In fact, it ranked first in the world for government innovation. It also topped categories linked to setting strategic priorities, handling plans flexibly and maintaining budget surplus indicators.
That said, the rankings weren’t only about money or technology. The UAE also placed second globally for government service satisfaction and adaptability.
Which probably explains why digital services here keep expanding at such a fast pace. Most residents already expect things to happen through apps or online portals now. Standing in endless queues feels almost outdated in comparison.
Long-Term Planning Seems To Be Paying Off
Another area where the UAE scored highly was long-term vision and institutional coordination, where it ranked third globally.
Basically, the index recognised how different government departments work together while following broader national goals. And while that sounds very official, it often shows up in simpler ways too, like quicker approvals, connected systems and policies that don’t completely clash with each other.
Also, the government’s wider development strategy appears to be playing a role here. Officials linked the results to the “We the UAE 2031” vision, which focuses heavily on economic growth, quality of life and attracting talent from around the world.

More Than Just A Ranking For The UAE
The UAE’s leadership has spent years pushing the idea of being future-ready rather than waiting for problems to happen first.
Sometimes these global indexes can feel like PR headlines. But at the same time, countries do pay attention to them. Investors do too. Strong rankings help shape how governments are viewed internationally, especially when competition between global business hubs keeps getting tougher.
And for the UAE, staying inside the top 10 seems to matter just as much as getting there in the first place.
