The announcement was made on June 20 as part of World Refugee Day activities. For many displaced women, daily life remains difficult. Access to healthcare, education and stable sources of income is still out of reach. Sheikha Fatima highlighted these challenges and called for greater efforts to help women build more secure and independent futures.
A Focus On Skills, Healthcare And Long-Term Support
The new programmes will be delivered through the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Women Refugee, which has continued working on projects aimed at improving living conditions for displaced women and their families.
One of the largest initiatives is a midwifery training programme that will run through 2026. Organisers expect it to support around 76,000 women and children. The programme is designed to strengthen access to maternal healthcare while helping women gain valuable professional skills at the same time.
Other projects will provide training in agriculture and food production, giving women practical skills that can lead to income-generating opportunities in their communities.
Tech Training May Be The Key To New Opportunities
New training programmes will help refugee women to acquire digital and technical skills, which could boost their chances of employment in today’s job market.
For many people, technology has become an essential part of work. Yet access to these skills remains limited in many refugee communities.
Also, these programmes are intended to provide opportunities that continue long after the initial training ends.

Working Together To Reach More Women
The initiatives are being launched in cooperation with several organisations, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Emirates Red Crescent and Amahoro Coalition.
Sheikha Fatima said refugee women continue to show remarkable strength despite difficult circumstances.
Her message was simple. When women receive the tools, education and opportunities they need, the benefits often extend far beyond one person, reaching families, communities and future generations as well.
